TOO HOT TO HANDLE
Safer Leeds is working alongside West Yorkshire Police to Target those receiving stolen property using latest state of the art Tracking Technology. Small trackers are being placed in everyday household electrical devices such as games consoles, laptop computers, sat nav's and TVs. When stolen Police can follow the movements of the item with pinpoint accuracy. Not only can they arrest the thief but they can trace where it has been and where it ultimately ends up. Anyone tempted by the proverbial 'Back of a Lorry' bargain might be in for a nasty surprise. Chief Inspector Mark Busley of West Yorkshire Police and Safer Leeds stated, "Even if you buy stolen property in ignorance there's a good chance you will be arrested and questioned by the Police. Most people receiving stolen property from burglars, or thieves, have a good idea it's stolen. Without giving too much away, it's fair to say that a number of trackable items are currently deployed across Leeds and waiting to be stolen!"
